What was required
World Cup II is an international rowing regatta organised by the sport’s governing body, World Rowing. Ireland’s governing body, Rowing Ireland, required a series of social media assets for Instagram, Facebook and Twitter. Firstly, introduce their crews and then chart their pathway through the weekend competition.

Project insight
The regatta is the pinnacle of the sport and demonstrates how well a country is fairing. Ireland’s international success, reflected by multiple medals at the recent World Championships and the 2022 Tokyo Olympics, has garnered much interest and support. Social media is a fantastic platform to announce the progress of the seven crews attending these regattas. Each required graphics for:
- Introduction of the crew, up to five
- On to the next round
- Repechage
- Gold, silver, bronze, 4th, 5th and 6th
- Well rowed
The overall design focused on the crew portraits blended with the shamrock of the Rowing Ireland logo. Armed with a full suite for Instagram (including stories), Facebook and Twitter, the communications team at Rowing Ireland could instantly tell their followers how well the crews were doing. In total, 420 individual graphics were delivered.
Sketch is the ideal tool for generating a large number of graphics. Using the application’s symbols architecture and the override function it was possible to use masters to quickly duplicate an art board for each crew and replace up to six bits of information. The beauty of using this system was that if a change is required, the colour used in the crew name would be reflected everywhere.
